Still have Questions? Check out our FAQ’s
Can I bring/use my own fibre?
Of course! Its your holiday, have fun. Here at Distaff and Loom we try to make spinning a sustainable craft by only providing wool and fibres that are regionally appropriate and in their lovely natural colours and tones (no chemical dyes). But we can understand that you may have a specific project in mind, or just love to squish something colourful and glittery. If this is the case – please select ‘No Fibre 10% discount’ when booking – and don’t forget to pack your fibre! There are also opportunities to buy fibre in some of the shops on Mull for a nice day out.
I get to take my yarn home?
Definitely! Please remember to leave enough time to niddy-noddy off your fabulous yarn creations into skeins ready for taking home. Plying yarn and skeining yarn always takes longer than we anticipate. Any yarn/fibre left on bobbins on collection of the wheel will be discarded.
I cannot spin yet. Can I book a spinning experience and wheel rental all at once?
Yes! However, you would need to feel confident going over what you have learnt on your own. I will leave you with a small leaflet detailing everything that you have learnt. You can always contact me should you require any further help.
Would the Plant Based Fibre Selection be suitable for dyeing later at home?
The plant based (cellulose) fibre selection comes mainly in whites and natural tones. You could dye your yarns later when you get home with a suitable dye for cellulose fibres. Distaff and Loom will not be held responsible for any dyeing outcomes should you choose to do so.
